Episode 45: Caregiving Mantra
Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu
”May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.”
Akal Maha Kal
Akal Maha Kal is a powerful life-giving chant removing fear and relaxing the mind, making you aware of the undying nature of the soul. Akal means undying, Maha means great, and Kal means death. The idea is that the undying and the great death are actually one; the mantra removes anxiety associated with physical human death. It draws us into a sense of serenity and security and the knowledge that there is nothing to fear.
What are mantras? What is their purpose? In this bonus episode, I explore this concept and Serena Malkani provides a couple of helpful mantras for caregiving.
